Alliance for school reinforcement of children with challenges – APRENDE

Design, pilot and evaluate educational innovations to strengthen basic skills of students of official educational institutions of Manizales.

The highlights in 2019

• 29 schools (1327 1st grade students) participated in the Learn Everyone to Read program. The results show that the groups that participate increase the number of words read per minute, reaching the expected level according to their age.

• 2 educational institutions (225 students) participated in the reading readiness program Let's Learn Everyone to Read Transition.

• 11 educational institutions (200 4th grade students) participated in the Progrentis program, an initiative to improve reading fluency levels through the use of technological tools.

• 2 schools and 922 students of 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade participated in the Prest Mathematics program; a methodology based on the use of concrete material and the resolution of problem situations.

• The Learn All to Read program, developed with the IDB, is replicated in Panama and several cities in Colombia, benefiting approximately 87.000 students.

• Research results conducted with Harvard University in Manizales showed that the information provided to parents through text messages about their children's performance has significant effects on the results of the Language and Mathematics tests for students Second grade.
