WORK AREAS

Areas de trabajo

AT THE LUKER FOUNDATION we are convinced that an educated and enterprising person transforms and generates development for himself and for the communities around him.

We focus our work on three main lines: Education, Entrepreneurship and Projects in partnership with CasaLuker focused on rural development. Additionally, we support other initiatives and social projects in the city of Manizales, which contribute to generating better conditions for our communities.

Education

Aim to make Manizales the first in education. To this mission has been added the work in Necoclí, in Urabá, north of Antioquia, where we take the experience of Urban Active School (New School for rural areas) to educational institutions in the area of influence of the agroindustrial production project of cocoa that Luker advances in this municipality.

Thanks to Urban Active School, The University in Your College and Learn, students develop skills and strengthen skills to better face the real world.

With Manizales University Campus, alliance with the six main universities of the city, the City Hall and other companies and organizations, we have once again put Manizales on the national agenda as the university capital of Colombia, and together we have joined forces to strengthen and become the destiny of own and foreign students.

Entrepreneurship

It is an alliance for the integral development of the entrepreneurship ecosystem of the capital of Californian, thanks to which the necessary conditions to create and grow companies are generated.

This private and academic public alliance completed seven years in 2019, thanks to the conviction of its managers about the value of adding knowledge and action to transform the economic model of the city.

Special Projects

From our beginnings we have supported the work of institutions from Manizales that focus their work on improving the living conditions of the population in vulnerable conditions in areas such as health, nutrition, housing, education and the elderly. All this is possible thanks to the legacy of the main benefactor of our Foundation, Inés Restrepo Mejía.

Other city initiatives

Based on our interest in making Manizales a better city for everyone, we support initiatives that contribute to the construction of citizenship and the formation of better informed and more participatory citizens. Manizales Cómo Vamos and Estoy con Manizales are examples of this interest.

With Manizales University Campus, an alliance between the six main universities of the city, the Mayor's Office and other companies and organizations, we have once again put Manizales on the national agenda as the university capital of Colombia, and together we have joined forces to strengthen and become the destiny of own and foreign students, positioning this initiative as an important city bet.

Projects in partnership with Luker

Chocolate Dream: Since 2015 we have joined Luker Chocolate's commitment to generate change in the cocoa-growing regions of Colombia, using chocolate as a transformation vehicle. Since this year, we have contributed our knowledge in education and entrepreneurship in Necoclí, as mobilizers of change.

The Cocoa Effect: It is an Alliance for Global Development (GDA) between USAID / Colombia, Luker Chocolate, Luker Foundation, Enel-Emgesa, Saldarriaga Concha Foundation and EAFIT University that contributes to the Chocolate Dream and seeks to strengthen the productive chain of cocoa, contribute to improve the living conditions of producers and their communities, providing opportunities in four sub-regions: Urabá, Bajo Cauca, south-central Huila and Tumaco.
