Music, as an instrument used to transform realities, has been the challenge of the Batuta Foundation during these 25 years of work. Today, Batuta provides music education at 12 centers in Manizales, Samaná, Aguadas, and Arauca, reaching over 2000 teenagers and children each semester.

This initiative organizes and moves players starting from the evaluation of the quality of life in the city in order to support more effective and transparent governments, promote the participation of the citizens, and encourage public debate.
The results of Manizales Cómo Vamos have enabled the design of political actions in matters such as the improvement of the information on child nutrition, the public bicycle system, the public policy on employment, and the inter-institutional worktable for the air quality.
Bringing the voice of citizens and experts to city discussions, opening spaces of participation and debate, making proposals in public politics settings, such as the Development Plan or the Territorial Ordering Plan, have allowed to incorporate the recommendations and indicators of Manizales Cómo Vamos.
This initiative has reached its fifth year and has been consolidated as a center for knowledge and a reference in matters concerning the city.
The results of the measurements performed by the program have allowed the country to know that important things are happening in Manizales: today, Colombia recognizes us as a city with quality of life, a leader in higher education and social progress.
MCV has also enabled generating alerts and designing political actions in the aspects in which the city faces challenges.
The generation of discussion spaces for matters impacting the life quality in the city has allowed making proposals and recommendations in public politics settings such as the Territorial Ordering Plan.
A Mobility Pact was signed with the main public transportation players, and the Mobility Master Plan for the city was presented.
The second version of the Civic Award for a Better City allowed social initiatives to become visible, generating and strengthening connections between them. 262 organizations were postulated to the initiative in both versions.
Serving as a Social Progress Index, the ODS baseline or the open data platform – Ciudatos, has brought cutting-edge world discussions to our city, making us pioneers in global development agendas.
